CME (coronal mass ejection)

2005 is shaping up to be the most active solar storm year since 1991. Contrary to expectations of 'solar minimum' in the 11 year solar cycle, where a lesser number of sun spots would seem to indicate less CME (coronal mass ejection). Not so. In may there was a G-5 storm, and this past week another large flare. This is generally good for sky-watchers, generally bad for the few people who have to live in space, and can be very bad for satellites as well as stopping all high-frequency radio. More, and more.
